Grant Hermanns Makes Commitment

6-foot-7, 265 pound offensive tackle Grant Hermanns out of Rio Rancho has made his college commitment. He’s headed to Purdue. The Class of 2016 standout had originally committed to play for Iowa State, but when the Cyclones fired Head Coach Paul Rhoads, Hermanns de-committed in December and reopened the recruiting process.

Hermanns had offers from Nevada, New Mexico, Washington State, Air Force, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Iowa State, Kansas, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, Texas Tech, Bowling Green, Buffalo, and from Purdue.

The Boliermakers just offered Hermanns on January 20th after he had just returned from an official visit to Hawaii. Hermanns and his father flew out to West Lafayette, Indiana for an official visit this weekend.

“You cannot get any better than Grant. First guy here and last one to leave. He’s a great leader and we’re really excited for what he’s going to do. He’s a great football player, but an even better person,” Said Head Rio Rancho Head Coach David Howes in an earlier interview before the season.

Hermanns On Purdue

"I really like what Head Coach Darrell Hazell has planned for Purude. He is building a great program and I really enjoyed the team atmosphere. These guys really want to win. I enjoyed meeting with Offensive Coordinator Terry Malone who has a great vision for the offense. West LaFayette, Indiana is a small college town with a good feel. Really excited to get out there and get going. I would also like to thank all the coaches that took time to recruit me, especially the New Mexico Lobo Coaching Staff. Coach Bob Davie is a great coach and has turned the program around. I would be a Lobo, but I really want to spread my wings and get out of New Mexico to see some new things."
