Rex Henderson named Artesia Football Coach

Rex Henderson looks to continue on Lineage of Great Coaching

The Artesia Bulldogs hired Rex Henderson to be the their new high school football coach on Friday March 18th.

“I am just so excited and honored. To follow in my uncle and grandfather’s footsteps coaching the Bulldogs is a great honor and I am excited to carry on that lineage,” Said Rex Henderson about being named the Bulldogs new football coach.

Cooper Henderson who coached the Bulldogs from 1989 to 2015 is Rex’s uncle and L.G. Henderson who coached the Bulldogs during the 60’s is Rex’s grandfather.

“It’s a dream opportunity to coach the Bulldogs, Cooper left the program in great shape, the staff is excellent, and we have the chance to continue doing something special. I’ll take over the offensive coordinator position and Jeff Willingham will still be our Defensive Coordinator.

Rex played high school football for his father Butch Henderson is Lubbock, Texas at Coronado High School and graduated in 1996. Butch Henderson is the current Head Coach at Waylan Baptist University.

Rex has been a varsity assistant for 15-years at Artesia, more recently he has been the Head Sophomore Coach and the Head Varsity Receiver Coach and is also the Head Track Coach at Artesia High School.
