27-Years Coaching

The Publisher of NMPreps.com Kyle Henderson interviewed Jim Miller this morning after his recent retirement. "Well it's been 27-years of coaching and 18-years at Las Cruces High. I told the kids that I would let them know today if I would be coaching or retiring. There was three factors that helped me make this decision. One was Kameron graduating and going to play for New Mexico. I want to be there for him and if I was to continue coaching I would miss out on Kameron playing during college. Secondly our staff is as good as it's ever been. They'll continue to do a great job if left in tact. Third, I didn't want to leave the cupboard bare. We have a great amount of talent returning, all our linemen, and some great skill position players," Said Jim Miller Monday following his retirement.

What's Next

"I recently turned 50-years old and who knows what the future holds. I would be interested in coaching in the future if things were to work out that way. Right now I am just excited for this new chapter in my life, to spend time with my wife, my daughters, and enjoy watching my son play at the next level. Looking forward to tailgating and being with friends and family, something that you miss out on from time to time as a Head Football Coach."

Most Memorable Memories

"Winning that 2013 state championship and watching Kameron as a sophomore battle through 4 quarters. So many big games, but that 2013 state championship game was icing on the cake. It's not all me, not all Kameron, it's always been a team. No one person makes it all work, we've had great coaches, great kids, and it's been a great ride."

Statement by Jim Miller

"I will always be grateful to Las Cruces High School for the opportunity to be here for 26 years and for the past 18 years to lead a football program that has become a perennial pwerhouse in the state. It has given me much satisfaction and has been very rewarding to have coached so many young men in close to 3 decades. I'm saddened at leaving this position which has been an integral part of my life but look forward to what the future may hold. I wish the Bulldawgs nothing but success in the future and will always be there to support the Bulldawg Program and Bulldawg Nation. Thank you for your support." - Coach Jim Miller
